WHO IS RICK CALLAHAN?
Rickey D. “Rick” Callahan was elected to his first term on the Dallas City Council on
June 15, 2013, to represent the newly created District 5, which unified the Pleasant
Grove/Southeast Dallas area previously divided among four council districts. Besides
living and working in the district for over thirty years, Rick has been actively involved
in the community and has a long history of proven leadership and positive results.
Since being elected Rick has worked tirelessly to replace substandard and blighted
properties and has successfully attracted new retail development and jobs to the
community, including the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market that brought over 150
permanent jobs to the area.
While chairman of the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Rick spearheaded
inclusion of the Main Street Pleasant Grove Project in the 1995 Bond Program, resulting
in $1 million of capital improvements to Buckner Blvd. He has also organized and served
on a number of committees to improve the quality of life and image of Southeast Dallas,
and is committed to working with his neighbors, businesses, the City Council and
Mayor Rawlings to help Dallas Grow South.
